Home in Color: Nine Original Watercolor Paintings
It’s been four years since my first summer in the desert after moving to Arizona from New England.
At first, I missed the familiar rhythms of the seasons—the ocean waves, the gray light of October, the first snowfall...These will always be a part of me, but I’ve also come to love the desert’s own rhythms: its shifting skies, resilient flora and fauna, and ancient mountains.
Somewhere along the way, the desert has become home.
This collection of watercolor hummingbirds is inspired by colors of the Arizona Desert, and moments of magic woven through it’s landscape and atmosphere.
The elements reflected in each painting now feel almost as familiar to me as snowflakes and seashells once did. A sense of home can take root in unexpected places. I’ve found beauty here wherever I’ve chosen to notice it.
My paintings will be available on my website on Wednesday, August 12th. .
